September 19th - Exit Slip

Listening to Greta talk about her fears about climate change and the impact it has had on her mental health was alarming. I recognize that I am often complacent in my actions to live a more sustainable lifestyle. One acknowledgement I want to note for myself is my use of transportation. Outside of TC education I also tutor and I jam pack my evenings with students. To make sure I can make it to them all in time to give them the help they need but to reduce how tired I feel at the end of the day I drive to each and every one of them.

As I've begun to hold myself to a higher standard of sustainability, I try to organize my trips so that I am within certain neighbourhoods where my students are located and I try to tutor accordingly. When I become a teacher and leave the world of tutoring, I intend to continue making my commute purposeful by taking public transit and combine my commute with running errands so I don't go back and forth as much. I hope that by doing so I am able to optimize my carbon footprint so that I can individually reduce my footprint by 15%.
