Reflection
This project and presentation was definitely one of the most enjoyable ones I've done. Reflecting on why, I think it was because I was able to connect my outside interests to math and to share both my passions for board games and math with people I like. I was also amazed by the amount of research that has been done on gamification, flow, and their relationship to math. This was extremely inspiring as I did not necessarily see much research linked to board games and math education and this would definitely be an area of interest if I were to ever pursue more academic research.
Expanding on future research I think there is a lot of room to explore real life classroom application which I don't think I have the capacity for in my practicuum but hope to implement it when I'm a fulltime teacher. I think board games definitely need to be played by students to gain more insight as that is what Danielle and I did. We spent time playing games so that we could uncover the hidden math in the games we had.
For inquiry 2, I would love to explore more literature and see how we can better link games to the classroom. A question which was left unanswered in our current research was how to foster resilience through board games, this is one way to tackle anxiety of course. I am excited to see where this project takes me in the future!
